Cutting Locks

Jamaica is starting to get really dam hot these days. My hair is locked and flows almost 4 inches above my waist was annoying the hell out of me.

When I try piling it on top of my head it makes my head really hot, and makes my head hurt.

I have been sporting lock since 2003. I started because I went to The U.S.A. for a six weeks education course. My hair was nicely braided. At the end of six weeks when I tried losing it out I found that most of the hair was locked and was falling out because it had in been chemically processed when it was braided. I left it as was and started wearing locks.

I had one problem my hair is very thin and does not accept chemicals very well so locking was a way out. However, unlike many women, my locks were very thin and took a while before looking good but it turned out to be beautiful and everyone liked it. But as it started to get long the scalp became exposed as the hair grew heavier. I promised myself to cut it one of these days but when I say it to friends they tell me not to.

So today with all the heat I got fed up and cut off my long beautiful lock to neck length. I fear going out because most people are going to be disappointed they had begun identifying themselves with my hair and individuals who are Rastafarians will be most disappointed because they will realize that I locked my hair because I liked locks and not because I am part of their religion.

Locking hair of my quality is a lot of work. The hair grows fast but it is fizzy so at all times the hair looks untidy. While other people can tidy up the new growth every six weeks I have to do mine every three days. The constant trying to neaten eventually take a toll on the roots and the hair is quite thin. If I decide to leave the hair alone for a week the locks seem to be growing away and threaten to break off.

All those individuals who keep telling me they covet my lock I wonder if they possess the patience that I have in getting my lock to look this beautiful.
